- Why did God choose Jacob? And my heart breaks for Esau - just feels snakebit
- Notice - another meeting at a well. Seems to be a central place? Why? Core need - water.
- Why couldn't we set up Leah and Esau? They seem like they would be good together
Matthew 9:18-38
- Power again- Just emanating from Jesus the way it is described
- Power again - Healing of the blind men
- Messianic Secret - This is the first time that a thing known as the "Messianic secret" comes up in the Gospels. This "don't tell anyone." Lots of ideas around it - best one in my view is that Jesus was trying to avoid becoming the "political / secular" ruler / king that people were looking for.
- Power again - this time in speaking - what doesn't Jesus have power over according to Matthew?
Psalm 11 and Proverbs 3:11-12
- Psalm 11 - What I hear is a bold declaration of the power of God and why we can rely and trust in God.
- Proverbs 3:11-12 - What came to mind for me with these verses was how hard it was to disicpline our kids when that need arose
